There are 15 apartment buildings in Osaka “Hokusetsu” area with station names that include “Senri.” Since there are a total of 30 properties listed in the ranking, this means that half of the popular properties in Hokusetsu are located in Senri.

So, where exactly is Senri?

The stations that appear in the ranking are the following four:

StationArea
Hankyu Senri Line Kita-Senri StationSuita City, Osaka Prefecture
Hankyu Senri Line Minami-Senri StationSuita City, Osaka Prefecture
JR Tokaido Main Line Senrioka StationSettsu City, Osaka Prefecture
Kita-Osaka Kyuko Railway Senri-Chuo Station Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture

In addition to these:

Hankyu Senri Line Senriyama StationSuita City, Osaka Prefecture

This suggests that “Senri” is an area primarily centered around Suita City, Osaka Prefecture.

The name “Senri” appears in many station names, and it seems to originate from “Senriyama,” which is also the name of a station. Rather than a single mountain, Senriyama refers to a vast hilly area stretching from Minoh and Toyonaka to Suita and Ibaraki. Its recognition significantly increased with the development of Japan’s first New Town, Senri New Town, where residents began moving in starting in 1962 (Showa 37).

However, for Kansai residents, determining exactly what “Senri” refers to can be a bit tricky. Based on station names alone, it might seem like “Senri-Chuo” Station is the central point, but in reality, Senri-Chuo is located at the western edge of Senri New Town. Similarly, Kita-Senri and Minami-Senri Stations, while named “North Senri” and “South Senri,” are not exactly in the center of the area. For Kansai locals, “Senri” generally refers to the entire Senri New Town area rather than a specific station.

When visiting the Senri area, it’s important to pay close attention to your destination and the corresponding station name. A careless assumption like, “Oh, Senri? Got it!” could lead to confusion. As seen in the list of station names above, the stations are on different rail lines—Kita-Osaka Kyuko, JR, and Hankyu—making transfers between them complicated. In fact, the author knows someone who once confused Senrioka and Senriyama and had to rush to their destination by taxi.

One more thing: between “Kita-Senri” and “Minami-Senri,” there is another station, but it’s not named “Naka-Senri” or simply “Senri”—it’s called “Yamada.”

So, when traveling around the Senri area, make sure to double-check your destination and station name!
